on what basis would you have to think that most of them are democrats? part of her whole persona has been denying speaking out as a progressive

She definitely prefers to keep quiet, but she has spoken out specifically against Trump in the past and endorsed Biden the last election. She has massive influence on a lot of her fan base and I doubt they would fool themselves into believing taylor would be on the team that thinks childless cat ladies are ruining the world lol

why would it matter what taylor's politics are to whether or not she has a trumpian majority fanbase if she's made it specifically easy to ignore her politics and avoided taking action that would alienate them at almost every opportunity? I'm not saying taylor is voting trump, I'm saying given how much taylor avoids being at all affiliate with any sort of progressive values, it would be easy to be a fan of her's with opposing political views. with her history in country and having been a literal icon for white supremacists, I do not see your logic by which you'd think the majority of her FANS are democrats.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of bands that are openly loud about progressive policies and they still have dumbass conservative fans showing up to buy their music and attend their shows, so Taylor's politics don't mean too much here. Like, just look at all the republicans who think Rage Against the Machine is for them lol.

half makes more sense to me, given her wide popularity, it just definitely seems off to say that a majority of her fans are dems. it being more in line with the general population's voting patterns makes more sense to me than any sort of real majority democrat

Sorry, I need to correct myself. I started added up some of the percentages of other demographics the poll looked up and the numbers weren't adding up. I didn't read carefully enough (I'm on ONTD).

In the article linked above, about 50% of Democrats polled say they're a fan or somewhat fan. If you assume all persons polled identified only as D/R/I, then the math still stands that it's slightly greater than half Dems and the rest R/I.

This was another recent poll, and it's still pretty close with 55% of her fans identifying as Democrats and the rest as Republicans or Independents.

Anyway, all that is to say, I agree with you! She's not a niche artist with a niche audience so it makes sense that her fanbase represents the general populace.

35% is about how any of Americans would identify as Democrats so those data you linked seem to indicate her fanbase is pretty similar to the gen pop (googled, yeah, the first number I saw was 32% of Americans identify as Democrats)
