It's closer to Notting Hill, with strong family elements that are the real emotional stuff. The relationship stuff isn't as heavy handed as The Notebook.
I cry so easily, sad music and I’m crying so that part will probably happen but The Notebook was cliche and melodramatic, I watched Notting Hill a long time ago so I don’t remember much, but I think I liked it better than the Notebook at least 😂
I saw it at cinemas and loved it, but cried a lot at the end
I find that it’s more about his personal relationships with others (not only his partner, but also his father, sister, etc…) than a straight rom com, if it may help
I didn’t think it was much of a romcom, more like a drama, people have been saying it’s dramatic, the same ones that liked the notebook which I didn’t like lmao
It’s from the director of love actually and the boat that rocked, I liked it a lot and the cast was charming, it has a couple of questionable moments but overall I remember liking it a lot
I gotta be honest, I looked up his works and a lot of them were with Hugh Grant and I usually enjoy movies with him but I think a lot of them wouldn’t work if the actors weren’t so charming on screen.
Like, Four Weddings and a Funeral was an okay movie, but I only liked it because Hugh was there, the writing was meh to me. Same with Love Actually 😅 Like, it was fine, I guess, but the screenplay wasn’t that interesting to me.
Sad music always gets me in movies though so I would probably cry watching this, but I don’t like melodrama like The Notebook and it was giving me those vibes 🤣 But if you guys vouch for it, I can give it a try.
I haven’t watched the movie, nor do I intend to. It’s giving me cheesy The Notebook vibes from the poster, I refuse.
