What is it with millennial men who think saying The Office is the best show ever is like... their entire personality? It's not that good of a show, and if you think you're Dwight Shrute's gift to mankind, fuck off.

I think the reason that I (a non-millennial female who worked at a small local company) enjoyed The Office is that they captured a lot of the minutiae of working in a boring ass office (rather than glamorizing it). Some of the situations were exaggerated but the overall feel of seeing the same 10 people all fucking day for 40 hours a week and some of the stupid disagreements, gossiping, forced company spirit stuff, etc. that you have to endure was accurate in a way that 99% of work situations hadn't been portrayed on tv before. It definitely veered off into the ridiculous but I liked the show originally because the setting felt real and relatable.

...also i know liked the uk version cause it was like, what, 2 seasons, and then it was just over. the us and the german versions are just too long for me. there are not THAT many office jokes that one can make.

I love James Spader, but even him on the office that late in the game just proved how bad the show had gotten.

Same, I had 80s movie nostalgia for him but the Robert Cailfornia episodes were so terrible.

im a late millennial/early gen z woman and i agree with the other reply. some situations are exaggerated but they really did capture working at a small place with the same people really well. the gossip, everyone getting around, the little things people would fight over. i enjoy the show a lot more now that im removed from that environment too bc my boss was VERY michael scott coded lol

I enjoyed the first few seasons, but my response was really more geared toward men (ahem, my ex for example) who basically treated it as if it were the best show ever, Dwight is their hero, and yadda yadda. Also it went downhill after season 3/4~ for me. I've worked in offices my entire career (albeit different industry) and I get why it's appealing, but for me I just think of people who think it's the equivalent of Breaking Bad.

I didn't watch Superstore until after it had finished airing. I knew the show got a lot of praise so I had high expectations when I finally started watching it. I liked it but I kept waiting for it to be AMAZING and live up to the hype.

I feel like Superstore came at the twilight of the NBC sitcom and people held it up as the successor to The Office/Parks & Rec/etc, whether it warranted it or not. I liked it though.

I really liked Superstore but idk if I would call it overrated? I feel like a lot of people don’t even know what that show is?
