Even if The Good Place was overrated, it still wasn't terrible. I enjoyed watching it when it aired and I just did a re-watch earlier this year and still liked it. Maybe I am but a simple peasant with terrible taste, but I would rewatch it again in the future.

And was it really overrated? It got the appropriate amount of acclaim that it deserved for its originality and pathos, and people occasionally quote it, but people didn't get weird about it. It was a nice show.

I remember it got good reviews during the first season, but it didn't seem to have the cultural cache of Friends or Seinfeld where everyone was talking about the show the day after it aired. It didn't have tons of merchandise, sweep major awards every season, or seem inescapable (like Game of Thrones). For all those reasons, I would agree that it wasn't overrated.

ETA: I think it depends on the definition of overrated. The literal definition should be a show that was good but that people claimed was great. But I think a lot of people use overrated to mean "other people liked it but I did not."

yeah, it's not like it won a ton of awards or anything either so i don't think it was overrated.

I liked it but hated the Eleonor/Chidi pairing. They had no romantic chemistry but I loved them as friends.

IMO that is the show's biggest flaw - wjh was great casting for chidi and kristen was really good when playing up eleanor's dirtbag-ness, but the romance felt so forced. i used to think kristen bell was miscast in the role,l

I’m not sure how it’s overrated. I didn’t see any weird obsession over it. People liked it, it won some awards, then it ended and that was it.

I always got the impression it was on of Schur's less popular shows, there wasn't that much hype or at least not compared to Parks or B99, so it's surprising to me that somebody would consider it overrated. lol
