this post. Korean News station JTBC has issued a formal apology after it came to light that the CCTV footage they had been reporting on the Suga DUI case with all week was in fact not footage of him.
New CCTV footage was then released, that shows the exact moment Suga falls off the scooter, gets up, and is approached by police. This new footage has been verified, and aligns with the statements that Suga and BigHit initially made following the incident.

August 14, 2024 So what does this mean:
- Ultimately, this is still very much footage of him driving a scooter drunk, so the DUI is not in question.
- But the conversation over the week had become how Suga and BigHit's initial statements were filled with lies to minimize the seriousness of the charge, fuelled by the false CCTV footage. The new confirmed footage aligns with Suga and BigHit's statements.
- The old false CCTV footage sparked greater anger because of the type of scooter shown being driven, the speed the rider was going on a major road, and that the footage implies he drove a much farther distance than the 500m from his statement. There was also reporting that he crashed on a curbside on the major road instead of near his apartment entrance, when he fell he was found laying on the ground, and police had to actively pick him back up.
- The new footage is taken from directly outside Suga's apartment complex gates. You see him riding slowly on the sidewalk directly in front of the officers that will eventually approach him. They only approach once he eats it turning in to the complex's front gate, but he immediately stands back up on his own, grabs his fallen helmet, and goes to get back on the scooter to continue in the gate, but then stands back up once the cops start talking to him. It appears to be a motorized scooter with a seat attachment (like a Lime scooter with a seat), not a motorized bike or vespa-style scooter like the false CCTV reported. This new reporting also confirmed the 500m distance from his statement, tracking he went from the restaurant, to a private studio, and then rode the scooter home from the studio.
- So again, still very much not a good look to be doing. But his initial statements were an accurate description of how it played out.
source source Again! Very much still not a good thing to do, I just know there were a lot of comments here about lack of accountability and lying, so I thought it was worth the update.
