Dan Stevens on Hunter Schafer: "Delightful to realize not every job needs to be like Euphoria"

Dan Stevens thinks the #Euphoria set was a little cuckoo and he wasn’t even on the show.

“Her [Schafer] only experience prior to this was working on ‘Euphoria,’ which is a very, very different experience, and by all accounts, not a terribly pleasant one.” https://t.co/plWiBe9AlE

I feel like between Euphoria and Game of Thrones, there could be a really eye-opening MAX documentary about the dark side of MAX shows, if you know, not for the obvious.

I really hope so. They've gotten away with so much.

What was bad on the GoT sets? I only ever watched the first episode and find the fandom exhausting so I don't pay attention to the gossip haha.

The producers were creeps. They replaced the magic from the books with women's nudity. And the actresses who were nude were new in the industry, or fresh from drama school.

Emilia Clarke (Daenerys) cried because she was naked and couldn't wear a robe in between scenes in the first season. Jason Momoa had to speak up for her.

In season six, Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso) played a septa who was tied up and Cersei spilled wine on her face. But it took hours to shoot that few seconds scene, so Hannah was basically waterboarded with wine/ juice for hours.

And it left her traumatized, made her claustrophobic.

The actress that did a scene with Iwan Rheon and Alfie Allen also said people from hbo hung out on set the day she and another actress had to be completely nude and Iwan and Alfie were basically covering them up/blocking their bodies as soon as the director said cut. Iwan Rheon also complained about how the extras were treated. It was truly disgusting things going on.

they waterboarded Hannah Waddingham for like 10 hours or something. It was completely unnecessary and the scene was like. A minute long.

Also the young people on the show (Maise Williams and Sophie Turner particularly) have given interviews that give vibes that the set was... a little un-kosher. There were so many nude scenes in the early seasons especially and they were known to hire porn stars for those because mainstream actresses weren't as willing and it was easier to convince porn stars to just parade around naked

To add what others said, Tamzin Merchant has also talked about how uncomfortable she was filming the original GOT pilot.

I hadn't heard about that, but given she was the original Daenerys and how that pilot goes, I am not surprised at all.

I think I found what you're referring to, and ugh I'm so glad she got out of it:

Merchant has never publicly discussed the Game of Thrones pilot in any detail-until now.

"Shooting that pilot was a really great lesson," Merchant said via Zoom from London. "It was an affirmation about listening to my instincts and following them, because I tried to back out of that situation and, during the contract process, I did back out. I was talked back into it by some persuasive people. Then I found myself naked and afraid in Morocco and riding a horse that was clearly much more excited to be there than I was."
