Haha let me just steal what I posted elsewhere.

[Spoiler (click to open)]Did you see Alien Resurrection? I feel like having seen that one that is pretty much the same plot - scavenger crew end up on a research station studying uses for the xenomorphs and it ends in a hybrid alien, although this one is from clone Ripley and the queen's DNA being mixed up in cloning - ruins Romulus in a way and they're relying on most people having NOT seen Resurrection to notice the plot was recycled LMAO. The baby even dies in the same way (although with less Ripley being sad to kill her baby).

Also, what the fuck was that Ian Holm AI bullshit? Nooooo.

All in all, I thought it was good, I just thought it was way too obvious in borrowing from the various movies for pieces of plot, shots, dialogue, etc it liked. The effects and sets were great. The dialogue mixing was terrible.

Resurrection could use been a great alien film….if it didn’t have Ripley, clones, or took place 200 years in the future.

You’re right. The bones are similar, but done much better here. It’s just we don’t really see much of the scientists doing the research part the way we saw in Resurection.

In various video games, we get more in-depth look as to WeyYu setting up shop on ships and planets as research sites for the alien and such.

I didn’t hate the Ian holm stuff, but I just hope people understand that it’s not the droid from Alien, just a different model. But then again, there were multiple versions of Fassbenders droid created (David, Walter, etc).
I think I actually would have preferred a different way of having a cameo from a person or persons from Alien in it.
Or hell, the droid could have been Walter or David, to wrap up what happened to him.

I liked the idea that it could have been [Spoiler (click to open)]Lance Henricksen since he's still alive LOL - albeit 84..

The entire series - Prometheus included - just has a weird anti-science issue where the scientists are all fucking idiots.

I like Resurrection, it's still a fun movie, even if it is very Whedon. It's hard to believe it's the same director as Amelie, but then you remember Jeunet barely speaks English and you wonder what really happened on that set LMAO. And I like it more than Alien Cubed - or at least the theatrical cut. The studio did it dirty, but so did the fact you could never really get a gauge on how their plan worked because you never could tell what the facility's size was/layout/anything. Romulus kind of suffered from this, too. Alien when I rewatched last night made me text my dad, "Why is this ship so big for only 7 people?! How much air does it take to keep all these random decks and ducts breathable?!"
