Gena Rowlands, whose seminal and fearless performance in “A Woman Under the Influence” inspired a generation and who starred in many other John Cassavetes features and the romance “The Notebook,” died Wednesday in Indian Wells, Calif. She was 94.

August 15, 2024 Gena Rowlands passed away Wednesday at 94.
She collaborated with first husband John Cassavetes on 10 films, two of which (1974’s A Woman Under the Influence and 1980’s Gloria) earned her two Oscar nominations for Best Actress. She also won the Silver Bear for Best Actress for Opening Night (1977)
She also was directed by son Nick Cassavetes for "The Notebook". Among her other movies "The Skeleton Key", "Another Woman", "Something to Talk About", "Playing by Heart"
Back in June her son Nick revealed that that she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease five years ago
