I'm happy that we have Harris/Walz vs the disaster that is Trump and JD and I know that Kamala and Walz will (verbally) kick ass, BUT people grade Trump on such a curve now. I worry that if Kamala or Walz stumble the tiniest way or don't completely live up to the "they're gonna wipe the floor with them!!" expectations in any way the media will do the most about it.
i think that’s a concern for kamala bc a) misogyny b) the thing about grading trump on a curve. but i think for the VP debate regardless of the media narrative walz is gonna come across well if he manages to be Not Obviously A Total Freak bc vance is so clearly a deranged loser who has lost the ability to understand what comes across as appealing to people who aren’t terminally online creeps
i don't think that's even necessary. as long as he doesn't call kamala a bitch or the n word on stage they'll say he did well. van jones will say it's the moment he became presidential. and the rest of us will be like "what the fuck are you nutjobs talking about? he sounded absolutely insane!"
The National Review's editor put out a piece yesterday saying Trump is acting like a loser and needs to get his campaign in order, especially when Harris has had surprisingly good polling that's continuing to grow after becoming the nominee. Adding to the fact he undoubtedly has some post-traumatic stress symptoms and very poor emotional regulation skills to begin with, I think he's going to have some form of a public meltdown that will end up being the main narrative. I'm sure there will be some dumb don't judge this old man for being traumatized narrative pushed from more left-leaning sources to seem fair, but I also wouldn't be surprised if some conservative outlets turn on him.
y'know what, it just shows how little of a dent the assassination attempt ended up making that i thought "what the hell would he have post-traumatic stress from?" when i first read your comment lol
and now the press coverage is like 2016 again, they stay airing anything trump says (rallies/press conferences) and dont air kamala's. i had to watch it through a tiktok live... the big media corps really have it against kamala, especially now that she isn't playing their game. to sane people, she will absolutely crush it. i have no doubt about it, but it sucks that i already know how the media will spin it.
mte. you can totally tell that they're bored and frustrated by well her campaign is going because they keep going on and on about the same things (the Tim Walz stolen valor bullshit and Harris not doing a sit down interview)
she learned from biden and saw what those assholes did to him and his campaign. she doesn't owe them shit and she doesn't need them (and that's what's killing them lol). she's not scared, she simply is focused on talking directly to voters and thankfully there's many ways to do that that doesn't require mainstream media. she already said she's gonna have a sit down by the end of the month anyway, let it go...

If Trump can string two words together and not insult, I feel the media is going to call it a success.
At least with Walt/Vance debate, he’s not graded on a curve. But I think it’s going to be a harder debate.
