Some of the cast of Alien: Romulus attended the premiere of their film in Los Angeles as well as director Fede Alvarez and producer Ridley Scott. The film premieres this Friday, August 16. Absent were Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson

I saw all the initial hype from social media being all like "OMG BEST MOVIE EVER" but now people are already drawing that back saying some choices don't work, but apparently the last 10 minutes is extremely bonkers and whether or not it works, I want to see it because I love when people just swing for the fences.

After rotten tomatoes's scoring and early reviews on twitter for other films, I don't trust those early reviews pre-embargo reviews.

Yeah, we all got burned very recently with "OMG Longlegs is the best horror movie ever!" when in reality it was, "Isn't this the exact same plot as *insert movies/books/games here*?"

Luckily the embargo lifts in 10 minutes, we should know veeeery soon. Ahem, TOMORROW at 12 (PT) which is today in ET, so 3 PM. Reddit lied to me.

It was a decent movie but Longlegs was such a scam OMG!! Even the silence of the lambs comparisons were a joke!!! I can't believe how much NEON overhyped that movie!!

I actually pulled out my phone at one point (I was alone in the back row) and texted my dad, "This movie was filmed before Alan Wake 2 came out but how does it have shot for shot scenes?!" And tbh that's because Alan Wake 2 isn't as original as people make it out to be LMAO but still. You can see every influence blatantly (especially Seven and the Japanese movie Cure).

Never heard of Alan Wake 2 but I did hear a lot of people comparing to Cure (never seen that either) when it came out.

It's a video game that came out last year around Halloween.

Cure is very similar in that it's about a cop in the 90s with family issues tracking down a guy who comes into contact with people right before they murder someone else gruesomely.

And the whole Alan Wake thing is weird because the FBI agent was pretty much a non-entity in the first game, so it couldn't even be that LMAO (so much of a non-entity that when they cast someone other than a stand-in Finnish actress with no lines in the game for seconds, they cast her as a different ethnicity and the neckbeards were PISSED).

meh, people were also hyping up Cure in comparison to Longlegs and I checked it out the other day and had pretty much the same reaction I had to Longlegs: an ok film but nowhere near the excellence that everyone is touting.
