August 11, 2024 The Sycophant Sweethearts Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are 1st (Deadpool and Wolverine, 54$m, now in the 1$b club less than a month after release) and 2nd (It Ends With Us 50$m) respectively. You've heard enough about them.
Twisters has 15$m.
That other new release, Borderlands, starring all of your former favorite people, sitting at a whopping 10% on RT, show up with 8.8$m, lower than even my predictions last week. I write this post in snippets over the week an I had a 10$m estimate up.
That's scarcely better than NEON's Cuckoo, with 3m$. Curiously, no one is giving numbers for Despicable Me 4 yet, but I fail to believe it didn't make the top 5.
The budget for this thing (Borderlands) was 110$m.
This could have been a Dungeons and Dragons - Honor Among Thieves level hit (using that term loosely); That with its previews at least opened to about 37$m last year (though it did have early showings up to 2 weeks before it released that somehow count in the weekend gross.)
But, well, 10% RT. Just because something is a popular video game (IS It popular? It's well regarded, but popular?) doesn't justify spending that much for a movie. Hell, The Creator, Godzilla Minus One cost less last year.

src Poll Can you name the other movie Jack Black and Cate Blanchett were in (without looking it up)? Next week, starting on the 15th is a wide re-release of Coraline, then the 16th has Alien: Romulus, My Penguin Friend, Ryan's World the Movie, and Skincare.
