I thought it was based on the book too, but Reitman and his co-writer actually did their own interviews with 30 or so members of the cast and crew who were there during the first season. the coolest story they tell is that the set designer gave them the schematics and that’s how they recreated the soundstage!

the book itself though is awesome, I just re-read it earlier this year

oh honestly, I wish I was more well-read in nonfiction as most of my favorites in that category are all entertainment based!

I love Alright, Alright, Alright: The Oral History of Richard Linklater’s “Dazed and Confused” by Melissa Maerz, a great look at that film but also the independent boom, the creation and ego of new stars, and an origin of Linklater as a filmmaker.

I managed to find a copy of Outrageous Conduct: Art, Ego, and the Twilight Zone Case by Stephen Farber, and if you can find a copy I highly recommend. what John Landis did and what he got away with…it’s disgusting and reprehensible!

DisneyWar by James Stewart is up there with LFNY as a dense but readable work.

Okay okay. I appreciate nonfiction but so many always have a bit textbook vibe that makes it impossible to go deep.
