We do have a kind of meet cute, we both had a very hard early life and when I got clean and sober in my late 20s and trying to get out of sex work he was the volunteer at the front desk of the lgbt nonprofit that he got clean and sober at, recommended some meetings and groups and we became friends, I didn’t think he was interested in me because I assumed he was just a masc gay guy (volunteering at an lgbt nonprofit and all/my ignorance/internalized phobia around bisexuality) He became a good friend who I would flirt with and he would always know when I was in a weird mood (I am a hard to read person) but it was like he knew me or could see me. One day he was volunteering at a community bbq and waiting on me hand and foot (YES in hindsight it was obvious he liked me and I was oblivious for a very long time) He told me that I make it hard for him to not want to be in a relationship. And I asked him out and that night I kissed him and the rest is history:p one thing that I think sealed the deal tho was he knew I had sexual trauma and refused to have sex with me until I was positive I was 100% sure I was ready, I had never had someone do that for me. My mom always told me to find your partner doing what you love. We both love giving back to our community and both ended up working for that nonprofit for years in different programs. We now own an eco conscious landscape and renovation company! Life is wild but it’s all about perspective and growth!
