i only went to Lolla once (2008), and its WILD to see one stage be that packed in the fields.

They basically have 2 main stages on opposite sides of the park. None of the acts i recall filled each side like the pics i've seen her hers (and by association, Kesha because she was there prior).

It's like everyone in attendence decided to skip anyone else playing on other stages for her.

no, pitchfork is in a smaller location. Lolla is downtown and pitchfork is in Union Park.

i mean, not EVERYONE was at the Chappell set. Other acts were playing at other stages, so its not like they all congregated to that stage.

But it is a big open field, but its just jarring to see it like that.

When i went, it actually was really comfortable as far as crowds. Unless you WANT to be in the middle of a headliners set or up close, it's not bad.

I imagine it SUCKS if you live/work in Chicago and have to deal with the influx of traffic and such, but it all works out.

when i saw public enemy at pitchfork, i was near the front and had plenty of personal space and the vibes were good (strangers gave me weed and talked to me about cool stuff)

like. i need to not feel boxed in. i also haven't been to a music festival since 2019 so idk how i'd feel about that given the covid of it all

there's a local festival i'm thinking about going to, but i'll see how i feel at my first two concerts since 2019 lmao

i will say, when i saw Nine Inch Nails one night, and once their set started, a line of douchebag youth charged through the crowd to get closer to the front, each holding onto eachothers hand.

If i had more advanced warning, one of them would have caught an elbow or have lost some strands of hair. Knocked a bunch of us over in the crowd.

But other than that, i was a willing participant in the large crowds, but never felt like i was going to die, hah.

Yeah, I went once in 2003 and the grounds were nowhere near this size. I couldn't handle being in that size of crowd, covid or not.
