This is exactly it, and it’s brilliant. So much power is given to them when we call them Nazis, etc bc of the fear/anger those titles evoke on their own. Honestly, it's borderline frustrating because it's how they should've been treated all along. No glowing profiles and interviews, no reporters attempting to "understand where they're coming from", no giving them a platform on your network in the "name of dialogue" or the "spirit of debate" or any of that crap. The grown adults trying to turn their obsession with minorities and the genitals of school children into national problems should've been laughed out of the room and then discreetly put on a watch list. Instead the media spent a decade+ helping them build momentum for their movement of losers because it generated ratings and clicks.

one of my friends commented on this whole "weird" thing that it reminds her of this tactic she uses when a man irl is being contrary or argumentative about something: she just starts saying their opinion is creepy. She was like, "men HATE being called creepy, so if they're going on about something, I just tell them, idk i think it's kind of creepy! and then watch them backtrack so fast"

personally I don't think weird is enough: creepy, uncool, unfunny. These things all sting because they're TRUE and they also hurt them where they feel it. Because they all got that voice inside their heads telling them all women already think they're creepy, uncool, and unfunny.

Also the weird thing reminds me of the old saying that women are afraid men will kill them, men are afraid women will laugh at them. It's making the male nightmare come true to mercilessly meme and mock.

like, as a disabled and neurodivergent person (I got literal brain damage), if you can't figure out that "weird" has multiple meanings in English you need to study some linguistics. It's okay that there's weird which is sometimes but not always endearing and absolutely fine to be even if not endearing and weird which is offputting to nearly everyone because it is abhorrent to the social contract that holds society together is referring to the latter usage of the word

I was wondering if it's because MAGAts are the type of people who were bullies in school. Who called the other kids weird. They understand that terminology. They don't understand what a fascist really means and racist is a thing they can't be cuz they talked to a Black or brown person one time.

It also seems like America as a whole was sorta paralyzed by Trump's political takeover. I remember it was years before news anchors would say he's a racist. Like it was taboo to even suggest this racist guy hated BIPOCs, even though it was obviously true. And right wingers ARE weird. Why do you want to track a woman's period?
