Vice Pres. Kamala Harris told supporters at an Atlanta rally she hopes former Pres. Trump will "meet me on the debate stage, because as the saying goes, if you've got something to say, say it to my face." https://t.co/M6Tzaixo55 pic.twitter.com/OgrsvNAqQb

I actually do worry about this, because Harris is a good enough speaker, but the whole meme of the coconut tree stems from her speaking in ways that go over average people's heads. And DJT, for as much as I hate him, is very good at appealing to the lowest common denominator, producing sound bites, and derailing/distracting from discussions of substance. I'm hoping KH's comms team is prepping her really well, not just to have solid talking points and speak more naturally colloquially, but also to deal with a demagogue like Trump.

She is known for her personable nature, and even many on the right who don't agree with her politically find her quite charming. In a debate, she's likely focus on clear, relatable communication. Her comms team is surely preparing her well to handle a demagogue like Trump.

I remember her debate against Pence. I was so worried for her and the moderator was a piece of shit but her "I'm talking. I'm talking." was sooooooo effective. To balance that authoritative tone while not being angry or defensive when 2 people are working against you...

She's a pro at this.

Her extensive prior training (both as a law student and as a lawyer) come through brilliantly in debate contexts. She does her best work when she's facing someone down.

Fingers crossed, sis! Or even better: Trump doesn't even try, and a coward narrative eats his campaign alive.

I'd like to think she'd show up to a debate like she did when she was questioning Kavanaugh and Barr in the Senate. I feel like the way she tactically approached both questionings really made her public profile rise a lot. I know it's when she won my mom, average Democrat who's not super online.

They’ve already shifted the communication coming out of the Harris camp to be extremely accessible and blunt, e.g. calling JD Vance creepy and weird.

I love the shift in tone. No one wants to hear a list of facts thrown at them. They react more to being called weird, old, foolish, etc

Terrifying me makes me freeze. Calling them out for their fuckery and frankly creepy ass fixation on other people and what they do with their lives makes me feel like I can defend myself. I don’t suffer freaks.

I actually think she's pretty easy to digest for the average viewer, as we saw from the Atlanta rally. direct, personable and to the point.

meanwhile Trump, who is already afraid of her, would talk in aimless circles and look even dumber than normal. anyone who thinks he's clever is already a dum dum and will think that regardless of the debates imo.

that is, if he even gets the balls to debate her, which I'm doubting at this point
