Taylor Swift has shared a statement following the mass stabbing that took place in Southport, UK yesterday, in which a number of children were attacked at a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga event.

[Taylor’s Statement]The horror of yesterday's attack in Southport is washing over me continuously, and I'm just completely in shock.. The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families, and first responders. These were just little Kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families. -Taylor

“It is with great sadness that today I am here to advise that two young children have died as a result of injuries sustained in a knife attack this morning,” Merseyside Police’s Chief Constable Serena Kennedy wrote. “Nine other children have been injured, and six of them are in a critical condition, all those injured have suffered stab wounds sustained during the attack. Two adults are also in a critical condition after being injured during the incident.”

“It is understood that the children were attending a Taylor Swift event at a dance school when the offender, who was armed with a knife, walked into the premises and started to attack those inside. We believe that the adults who were injured were trying to protect the children at the time they were attacked,” Kennedy’s statement added.

The suspect, a 17-year-old from Banks, a village outside of Southport, has been taken into custody and is now facing charges of murder and attempted murder, according to police.
