There is no reason a Broadway musical should be a 2 part movie. If it was just the one movie I'd probably be more optimistic.

Especially if they go by the Broadway book? Like 70% of the songs are in the first half.

It's going to end up doing what every Oz adaptation does and try to crossover with 1939 The Wizard of Oz.

I waited ages to see Wicked on Broadway (saw it in 2010) but I DID see Wicked at Universal Studios Japan in 2008, which was condensed into 30 minutes half in English half in Japanese and ended with Defying Gravity. I was shocked there was an entire second act when I saw the actual show. And you know what? The first act is way stronger than the second, too. Almost all the iconic songs are in act one - and the iconic ones in act two aren't as strong as the ones in act one.

Ooh, I just double checked the timeline - Jemma Rix would already have been the Alternate on the Australian tour by Nov 2008, so it would have been someone else playing Elphaba at USJ.
