Spent some time this week catching up on movies I've missed due to vistors/travel/etc, and boy, was that disappointing!!

MaXXXIne: Really enjoyed both X and Pearl, but this felt so flat by comparison. It was really predictable, and while I was never bored, it wasn't engaging, either. Like, the aesthetics and the music were there and on point, but it was all gloss and no substance. I guess you could say that was by design to reflect the decade, and whatever, sure, but it should still be compelling. Elizabeth Debicki was the highlight for me - so tall! So hot! So bossy!

Longlegs: This was... uhhhhh... not for me. Cool concept and atmosphere with an absolutely dreadful third act. So much stuff did not make sense. And it did not help that a good portion of the crowd kept laughing at stuff that was not that funny? Maybe it's a TikTok thing, idk. This is why I try to see movies opening weekend, lol.

With a weekend viewing of Twisters (which I enjoyed for what it was), I am maxed out on A-List reservations. Next week, gonna try for some combo of Deadpool and Wolverine, A Quiet Place: Day One, and Sing Sing, Inside Out 2. I also want to see Didi, even though I hated the filmmaker's Oscar short.
