In today’s unsurprising news, Netflix has confirmed that season 4 of Bridgerton will focus on Benedict. His book, An Offer From a Gentleman, was book 3, but the showrunners swapped the order. OP can’t wait ( Read more... )

this makes the most sense. the last season felt like they were basically killing time in his storyline to get to this point lol (aside from making him bi, which was great, though the weirdly edited threesome just became comical after a bit)

the bridgerton fandom is such a mess though. i found about this via my twitter feed, with someone in one faction of the fandom accusing another of whining about this, and then the NEXT tweet was someone from the second faction saying the first group is complaining already. i’ve seen nasty ship wars but those usually involve love triangles? none of these ships overlap but everyone is always fighting about them!

It’s so weird that there are ship wars for this fandom lol

I think the 2 year wait between seasons is the biggest issue causing ship wars. The other shippers know they’ll have to wait another 4 to 6 years before their seasons air, assuming the show isn’t cancelled by then. If this was a cable show they probably would’ve gotten all eight seasons aired in the span Netflix is going to end up airing 5 at this rate. I think Benophie fans were worried he’d get skipped again in favor of Eloise or Fran (and honestly there’s still a chance Jess will make Fran/Michaela a borderline A plot next season). Though I definitely think the ones who wanted Eloise next were jumping the gun too fast, especially since they have less of a fear that her book will have massive changes to her love interest compared to Benedict and Fran fans.

Honestly though I’m not sure if the Hyacinth and Gregory fans even expect their books to be adapted at this rate which is a bit of a shame because they have the fun ones.

that does make sense, and it makes me glad i’m only a casual watcher of the show (who has spoiled herself about the books lol) so i’m not all that invested in who’s next. the fandom seems… intense, but also it is ridiculous that it takes so long between seasons. 2 years for 8 episodes is obscene.

I was honestly surprised to find there are people out there who think the books are amazing and that the show should follow them more closely because… I thought it was universally acknowledged the books are mid.
