I know people will say "Taylor when", to which I say "never" cause she's a weakling (prove me wrong Taylor I dare you)

But it's always easy to endorse a candidate when your country is not affected.
Now give me some American artists putting some skin in the game

tbh, I would like to see Taylor say something pro Kamala. Her cult will do anything she says, and her endorsement could bring more people out to vote. These are the people who put themselves in debt buying 80 billion variants of her album, they will sure as shit go out and do whatever she says.

But I agree that she won’t say anything, which means that either she’s really MAGA, or she’s so desperate for love that the blowback from MAGA would crush her ego too much.

I don’t think she’s maga but more she can’t stand not being adored and coddled 24/7. She wants to be America’s favorite girl.

If she were to be more outspoken she’d immediately get backlash and discourse and run the risk of upsetting some of the fanbase, which again she doesn’t like losing their favor (unless they cockblock her lol). She can’t even handle tiniest of criticism or the idea of losing support or being seen as something other than a harmless pop star.

Plus there’s the financial, ambitious, and greedy nature of her. Her fam probably votes republican cause they’re favorable to the riche.

I’d take it as a source of pride to have MAGA hate me. But I agree that she can’t stand the notion that someone may not love her. And it would put a dent in her bottom line, which probably hurts her more than not being universally loved.

I forgot about the Kelce’s. I know nothing about them, but wouldn’t be surprised if they were crying into their let’s go Brandon merch.

I’m pretty sure the Kelces vote blue? Someone correct me if I’m wrong. Travis himself has been a vocal supporter of vaccinations (I hate that that’s a political statement 🙄) and I’m pretty sure he’s mentioned on his podcast that his mom is a Democrat? Again, someone correct me if I’m wrong. My source is just my friend who loves football and was waaaay too into him before he started dating Taylor.

google tells me he has never publicly declared his party affiliation but has left leaning values, which usually means centrist/liberal

As much as I can’t stand Taylor, I do think she’s said enough things publicly about gay rights, women’s rights (lol), and supporting Dems to let me know she is some version of liberal. I don’t think she’d date a Trump supporter.

I don’t think the Kelces are trumpers. As someone else said the MAGA crowd hates Travis because he’s pro vaccine and he did kneel during the anthem.

Doing the bare minimum I know, but yeah the MAGA crowd hates him lol

she posted herself with some biden/harris 2020 cookies and said she wants biden as pres in the last election so we will see if she does it again this time, mainly bc i feel she has a ton more eyes on her from everyone becoming obsessed shes going to be more pressured 👀

we can start taking bets ???!

Swift actually came in pretty low as an effective political communicator according to an (admittedly) small study. 20% of youth voters more likely to support/16% less likely to support.

She'd probably do well with GOTV campaigns near the end and registering voters but it definitely isn't an easy "well with her cult she could take over the world" when she is incredibly polarizing (as evidenced by like. ONTD)

Interesting. I thought they would be on board with anything she said.

This is really good commentary I hope more people read. Speaking on politics is wildly unpredictable, and invites massive waves of friction (usually misogyny). Swift's influence is really limited to getting tickets, merch and variant albums sold.

Every time I see someone call out for her specifically to say something... I think, "Why does Taylor Swift have to battle Trump and MAGA?"

What can she do for people who don't understand Trump shouldn't be president? It's an intelligence and education gap her songs can't fill.

I’m glad you brought this up bc ontd cannot stop bringing up Taylor in every damn post lol

speaks a lot of the negative polarization and precisely why her endorsement could heavily backfire - some people are sick of hearing about her and some people cannot stop talking about her precisely because they dislike her that much
