July 20, 2024 - Netflix underwent an executive change in early 2023 and as part of the change, the new executives put a halt on post-production for The Old Guard 2 five weeks after post-production began, and then the strikes hit which caused massive delays
- Post-production eventually resumed many months later, but it's still ongoing; note that filming wrapped two years ago now
- The Old Guard released in 2020 and was, at the time, one of the top 10 most popular Netflix original movies of all time
- Charlize assures us Netflix hasn't secretly canceled it yet like they have with several other originals
- Most of the original cast returns, along with new cast members Uma Thurman and Henry Golding
- The producers have indicated The Old Guard 2 ends on a cliffhanger; Netflix had indicated in the past they wanted an Old Guard franchise
- OP comments: If Netflix does want a franchise, what the fuck is going on? They had test screenings over a year ago now. If it's because it's very gay and "woke" and "doesn't appeal to middle America" (which Netflix executives have insinuated they want more of), Netflix can go fuck themselves.
