Charli xcx is on the cover of Billboard and spoke with them about her latest album, brat and working it out with Lorde on the remix of "Girl, so confusing

I read the whole thing and still have no clue of what happened with Lorde lol

It wasn't really a big beef, more of professional jealousy from charlie's side (she admits she was very jealous of Lorde breaking out with Royals and her thinking, they have the same aesthetic, why couldnt that have been her?). And Lorde having image envy with Charlie (cancelling on plans last minute with Charlie because she thought charlie was too cool for her to hang out with so it was insecurity stuff on her side, but Charlie thought it was mean girl shit).

Basically its "the girls are fighting- but more with their internal demons but they're actually projecting". Charlie wrote "Girl, so confusing" about what she thought their beef was about and how she felt and sent Lorde a voicenote before the release. And Lorde was like horrified she made her feel that way, so they talked it out and collabed on a song.

So they did music therapy together and everything is good with the pop girlies again.

tbh Charli comes off like the asshole in the situation. Lorde's like, no girl I was dealing with body dysmorphia and charli's like "lol you look like me and want me to flop out of jealousy"

honestly this is my pre-brat dislike of charli xcx, she just comes off as an insecure messy mean girl (see also track 13 "mean girls"). and as lorde's response kinda proved - most of the animosity was in her own head.

As much as I love Charli, I have these same concerns. The people she surrounds herself with and the stuff with Rina and Matty rubbed me the wrong way.
