Summary of the video under the cut.
TLDW/TLDR: famous YouTuber Cody Ko is accused of sleeping with fellow YouTuber Tana Mongeau when she was 17 years old and he was 25. Because Tana is "unlikeable" and a woman, her story is being discredited while Cody gets to remain silent as the YouTube community ignores the topic and his fans keep being misogynists.
- Cody Ko is one of the biggest commentary creators on YouTube, with over 6M subscribers.
- Tana Mongeau is also a YouTuber, known for her controversial Tanacon event and loud personality. She currently has a podcast, Cancelled, with fellow content creator Brooke Schofield.
- About a month ago, Tana was hosting a live episode of her podcast and was asked "who's the smallest dick you've ever had sex with?" Tana replies it's Cody Ko, saying "I can say that, I was literally 17, I can say that".
- Tana being 17 when this happened, puts Cody at 25 years old.
- When this clip started circulating the internet, Tana then went on her podcast to once again confirm her story. She says that Cody was not only aware of her being 17, but that former YouTuber, Gabbie Hanna, even went as far trying to stop Cody from sleeping with Tana, directly telling him she was underage when Gabbie saw them together.
- Tana mentions she was a fan of Cody at the time and was excited to meet him, which of course just adds another layer to the power dynamic Cody had over her.
- Because Tana has had a lot of controversies over the years, is mainly considered "unlikeable", and has been caught up in straight up problematic behaviour, fans of Cody and the internet in general have been trying to dismiss her story as lies and just a way for her to get attention.
- D'Angelo, however, points out that Tana has talked about sleeping with Cody as far back as 2021. Not only that, there is a video of Gabbie Hanna years ago where, without naming anyone, she tells the exact same story as Tana (Gabbie clip starts @ 4:12).
- He says that Cody at his big age should've known better and that, crime or not, it's disappointing and alarming that Cody has stayed silent throughout this ordeal.
- He also notes that Cody is trying to bury this story by deleting comments, noting how Cody's YouTube comment section is very different to his Instagram one, and how Coyd's subreddit was being heavily moderated with posts being removed because they could "instigate drama".
- D'Angelo says Cody's being a coward and should at least call out the misoginy and victim blaming going on, especially because Tana mentions Cody has even reached out to her privately, so he is clearly aware of the situation.
- Also mentions how hypocritical it is for so many commentary channels to stay quiet: they usally make videos on any gossip or rumours, confirmed or not. Points out how easy it is for men on YouTube to elevate themselves by spouting generally feminist viewpoints but now that this situation is gaining traction and people seem to not want to speak out against Cody, it's very clear how those viewpoints are just branding strategies.
