Let’s just keep in mind that Whitney only released one variant of her albums. Everyone bought Whitney’s albums because they wanted to, not because they had a compulsive need to buy them in order to keep up.

Going to the record store to find tapes and CDs was the best.

Tower Records and the international movie section of Virgin were formative to my artistic taste.

it got sad at the end of my local virgin megastore (orlando one at Downtown Disney). On weekends, it basically became a place teens came to hang out and run around and a library at the magazine stand.

Thank god smartphones weren't really a thing then, because i just imagine a bunch of tik tok pranks n shit being done.

i miss the sort of rituals of going to places for things. Like, new releases every tuesday for dvds and cds.
Going to a barnes and noble to look through magazines.s

The internet and social media kinda lessened the need for those things.

And there were no stans admitting that they sleep to her album to help the billionaire get more streams.

If putting music on to sleep that’s one thing, but that’s probably bot what’s happening here.

I remember seeing some Spotify wrappeds last year from her stans and they literally listened every minute of the day. They’d admit to leaving it play at home while they went off to class or to work.

Yeah I’ve seen Kpop stans to admit to similar behaviour. They just put whatever device on mute.

This is so fucking weird. Like, why do you care? Especially when the win is clearly inorganic?

It makes them feel like they’re part of her success

I had a Swiftie co-worker (a full grown adult) that did this. Spotify constantly on playing Taylor's shit on her work PC, even when she wasn't there to listen
