July 13, 2024 Dia Nash, 24, went to extreme lengths to differentiate herself from her famous mother at the beginning of her career.
For her first audition she used a fake last name. She wanted to do this as herself without giving the people she was auditioning for any reason to connect her to her mom.
Her alias didn't last very long. After that, she just kept it because her last name just sounded so nice.
Dia was responding to Niecy telling earlier this year that although her three kids work in the industry, she doesn't want them to be considered nepo babies.
"Most of the time, my kids audition. And they go up against other people. I've told everyone in anything I've ever filmed, 'You don't have to do my kids a favor. Make 'em work for it, make 'em earn it - if they win the part, that's fine. If they don't, that's fine.' I don't ever want [my kids] to feel like you just have something because I gave it to you,"
Dia wasn't initially aware of the conversation about nepotism in Hollywood, her mom was telling the truth.
