i want to know what their case was that let them go into service in that special group usually reserved for family where you serve together, sleep right next to each other, arent separated, etc. like that cannot be a common thing, so?

You mean the companion program? It's not a common thing at all and its hard to pass every process and actually be accepted. Not only did they have to prove the military they are actually close and not oh this is my bandmate close, like they had to prove they are on the very close almost family to pull that off. And no other idols have done that, not even the other BTS members which is interesting. I'm not surprised it was them who did this, I am just surprised they did it when the others went alone. If that makes sense. I wonder if they will talk about it.

I think that it partly was because of like, timing and Yoongi having to do office work meant that only Joon and the maknaes were even gonna be able to serve at the same time. And then like I think that V specifically wanted to be in the special group he's in and Joon seemed content to go alone so it def makes sense that JK and Jimin would want to go together out of all of them.

In my head it's because JK takes care of Jimin so well.

according to the news articles at the time they also had to be from the same home town to be accepted and they're the only two members from the same place doing active service

Other soldiers in the companion system who have discharged are not from the same town. I think you just have to prove you are close enough to use it and have to be of a certain age too. Tae, Jimin and JK were the only ones available to use it because of how long they waited. Tae wasn't gonna do that anyways, seeing how he said he wanted to be away from others and do his own thing. Savage. I'm kidding.

From what I remember reading, the final selection (if you pass the initial application process) is a lottery system so there's a bit of luck involved. Like I think there's a limited number of spots for the companion program so even if you qualify, there's still a random draw to pick who gets it.

It's not that hard to do these days. Jimin is the cut off year to do it, 95 and later. They have to show they are close and have a bond and then they just get approved. The biggest thing working against them was JK's tattoos, it specifically says tattoos exempt you, but my bet would be the fact they basically said FU to the government and Hybe trying to 'determine' if they'd go in and just said 'we are going' it gave them a leg up on that.
