-RAYE has held on to the title of her debut album “My 21st Century Blues” for many years before its release. She’s very proud of her work and likens it to roller coaster.
-Says “Ice Cream Man.” and “Body Dysmorphia.” are her most challenging songs to perform because of its lyrics and soft musicality. Says it’s very important for her to be an honest artist.
-Says festivals are nerve-wracking for her and she is slightly traumatized from past festivals ’back in the day’ when there’s just not many people in the crowd.
-Says she’s never been to most Asian countries but would love to go. She is part-Ghanaian and has experimented with Afrobeats in the past.
-Her grandmother moved from Ghana to London when she was born to take care of her and raise her. Her grandmother’s name is her middle name, Agatha.
-She was on the subway on her way home when she first heard a song she wrote, Blonde’s “All Cried Out (feat Alex Newell)” 2015. This was her first taste of having anything out in the world as a songwriter.
-She is obsessed with Mario Kart and card games.
-Feels ‘imposter syndrome’ quite a lot and it keeps her grounded. Says humility is very important for her. Weirdly has a hard time saying the word ‘fans’. She’s on Discord and interacts with her followers and says the memes have her dying of laughter.
