Im guessing you're American and have that live to work culture but I have no qualms about being an asshole about that, sorry. That job drove them into hospital.

I also have a stressful job, but I don’t glorify it but I would in fact be pissed if someone grabbed my belongings to make a point. That doesn’t help the situation, I doubt it helped alleviate your friend’s stress and only made it worse. That’s not how you help. And that’s not your laptop or phone to grab.

I mean, if I just gave my friend a designer purse from my job for free I would like to think they wouldn't immediately try to sabotage my job afterwards. And for all that her boyfriend was mad about her missing his birthday we never even SAW hers. All of them were fussy but who is going to pay this rent?? Plus, as a cook the boyfriend should have been understanding about unexpected late nights since that would be his whole deal.
