I know he and Julia have had a strained relationship but I've never heard about his daughter and him having an issue.

Her mom had full custody, and there is no sign he and Emma ever had a relationship.

Yes. His divorce with Emma's mom was ugly, and Julia took the mom's side. Eric was an addict at the time, and Julia financially support his ex in the custody battle.

The public perception was that Emma was raised nearly exclusively by her mom, and had little relationship with Eric. Now, this could be false, as she does not comment on it directly. But it seems like the sort of thing she would have cleared up if it was incorrect, so I do think it was the case. She talks a lot about her mom and posts mothers day pics etc. But she never talks about Eric, nor has there ever been a photo of them together in adulthood.

Eric says he and Julia have reconciled. While he speaks lovingly of Emma, it is always in a vague way that does not directly claim that they have any real relationship.

Family relationships can be difficult and messy, which are made worse and intensified when you add in the fame factor, I don’t blame Julia and Emma for telling Eric to zip it.
