Jacob said he hoped people still liked Louis by the end of the season and I have no idea what the fuck he was talking about because I love Louis more than ever.
the only thing I can think is that it showed Louis being extremely naive about Armand, and rejecting Claudia's claims about him threatening her, and being tired/exhausted with Claudia (despite still loving her, of course)
and since people sometimes have this extreme view of "a character can't ever do things that are bad/shitty" maybe he thought people would hate Louis
same!! i mean i kind of get it in that the the season does show him as a terrible dad. he failed claudia terribly and he probably thinks fandom would turn on him for that alone but he also failed to realize that we can be disappointed in him but also still root for him because even when he was terrible you could tell he loved her deeply!!!
I guess that didn't really bother me more than anything in s1 cause her existence alone was him being a terrible, selfish father lol. BUT people in this fandom are weird about vampire morality so that probably was what he meant. I absolutely love how complex he is though and Jacob plays Louis beautifully.
I was wondering that as well, all I can think is that he was talking about the two flashbacks during the trial maybe from the previous episode? There’s the one where he is begging Lestat to turn Claudia and saying he doesn’t care what her existence will be like (which I think is most probably the scene he was thinking of as I imagine that it would feel very like a very dark one to film with the way that Louis was dragging her body?), or maybe he was referring to the added context we get of what exactly Louis said to Lestat before the drop from the sky. I guess he could have been thinking that that wouldn’t go down very well with the Lestat stans?
I’m leaning towards it being the Claudia flashbacks that he was most likely thinking of though, that’s what I’ve seen discussed the most in that respect with viewers being shocked at how Louis was just dragging her body along the ground like that
The beginning of the season, it was DEFINITELY fuck Louis. Now? My heart hurts for him a bit and I don't wish him the worst.
The show takes you through all this shit, making you love, hate and feel confused about characters at different points. People who aren't able to enjoy the complexity are strange to me.
I like Louis, like I like Armand and Lestat, like am I supposed to see them as worse than Louis? Or more evil? Cuz as I don't, they are all vampires, monsters really, all have killed and hurt people, physically and emotionally, so just like house of the dragons, I'm just here to enjoy the murderous melodramatic hot gay/bi vampires.
the fact that he’s made people not just like Louis but love him is a miracle in and of itself like my man, have you read the books? You deserve to be canonised. We should be calling him Saint Jacob, patron saint of Dumb Bitches.

Jacob and the show made him a proper main character.
