I feel like I should think this discourse is on problematic territory but as of this Saturday morning, I don’t lol I never watched his films to know if those characters are really well thought out but he sounds genuine enough. And let’s face it, making movies for men is essentially what most male directors do, they just don’t admit it openly.

open range is one of my absolute favorite westerns and ive always appreciated that they cast annette benning (an age appropriate actress) as his love interest and it didnt feel like her character was JUST a love interest

Same - I love Open Range so much, so I'm probably going to give this film a chance, but the trailers didn't really do much for me.
