In a statement, Troy Reeb the Co-CEO of Corus Entertainment (parent company of Global News) said, "Today as we say goodbye to the beloved series, we celebrate the great success and impact Big Brother Canada has had in our country and in the Canadian media landscape for over a decade. Global will always be proud to have been home to Big Broter Canada for 12 seasons."
Corus Entertainment (parent company of Global News) cited several factors in the show's cancellation such as "audience trends, available support from sponsors and advertisers, and production and licensing costs." Notably for the final two seasons, there were no live feeds.
