In the end she has a better career than Aimee Teegarden but I don't think she would have been that good in the role tbh

Also, people were so harsh on Julie for no reason back then lol

Part of early 2000s television culture was for the fandom to just absolutely despise one female character for no reason and then often it was made out that the actress was horrible, etc. (The other version of this is to HATE the main will they/won’t they couple in the show and to say you’d like to see more of ‘boring storyline/random side character’ instead to show how above it all you are).

Often I find when I watch a show now that I didn’t watch when it aired, I’ll be like, ‘wait why was there such a hatred for this character/the actress? She’s fine’.

Alternatively, usually if the character isn’t great it’s often because the writing for her is bad and that’s usually because (male oriented) writer rooms aren’t great at writing teen girls, wives, etc.

(The exception to all this is April from Gilmore Girls who was truly awful in every way).

This is alive and well today considering stuff like JUSTICE FOR BARB on Stranger things lol

Fucking Sterek too!

And Sterek wasn't even an actual canon couple. I do think Stiles should have been canonically bi but Derek as his love interest? Nope. The fandom did have a hate boner for Scott and Allison back then and that's why the Sterek obsession happened.

Right like looking back...I feel like Julie was a pretty realistic teenager - especially considering she had to deal with both of her parents at school as well as at home.

Yeah, she's just being a teenager dealing with her parents's shit all the time!

And sure, compared to other characters she had a pretty good life but I feel like she was a realistic teenager, yeah.
