June 20, 2024 It's officially Summer in the Northern Hemisphere.
Let's take a look back at Billboard's "Songs of the Summer" list, dating back to 1998, courtesy from Chart Data.
I'll highlight five, but you can see the full list above and click "see more."
1998: Brandy & Monica - "The Boy Is Mine"

It's only fitting I highlight this 90's R&B Classic, especially since Ariana Grande's
version featuring Monica & Brandy
just dropped.
2005: Mariah Carey - "We Belong Together"

Mariah's triumphant comeback after many counted her out after her personal struggles and ex-husband Tommy Motorola sabotaging her career in the early 00's. This song automatically takes you back to Summer 2005, when things seemed much simpler.
2012: Carly Rae Jepsen - "Call Me Maybe"

Gahh, take me back to the early 10's when pop music was just fun. Now I must admit, this song was so outplayed (radio & clubs) at the time - that I truly despised Ms. Jepsen and this song. Little did I know that she had an album waiting, called E*MO*TION that would turn my hater ass into a Stan, like that. And the rest is history...
2017: Luis Fonsi ft. Daddy Yankee - "Despacito"

We don't acknowledge the Bieber colonizer version in this household. Especially when Biebs forgot the lyrics and
decided to sing "burrito." Chíngate, güey.
2019: Lil Nas X - "Old Town Road"

Song was everywhere, you couldn't deny the impact this one caused that year.
