Not sure where you're at, but here they mostly prescribe it for the reasons I mentioned. I wasn't even aware it was being used for Long Covid as well so I suppose it has a lot of off brand uses.

truvada can be used as a part of hiv treatment but prep is inherently hiv prevention - i don't think the implication of someone being on prep would be that they have hiv or are dating someone with hiv, it's more likely that the implication is that they'd be someone that's sexually active and/or trying to decrease their chances of getting hiv

which like y'know is still a questionable implication to make (like omg he could be gay!!) but yeah
