Coming to theaters December 13, this animated prequel is set nearly 200 years before the original LotR trilogy and focuses on the House of Helm Hammerhand (Brian Cox), King of the Rohan, and his daughter, Princess Héra (Gaia Wise) as they defend their kingdom from the Dunleding. Miranda Otto reprises her role as Éowyn, who serves as the film's narrator.
Also features the voice talents of Luke Pasqualino, Lorraine Ashbourne, Benjamin Wainwright, Laurence Ubong Williams, Shaun Dooley, Michael Wildman, Jude Akuwudike, Bilal Hasna, and Janine Duvitski
20 minutes of footage was recently shown at the Annecy Animation Festival in France. The film's runtime is reported to be 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Blade Runner: Black Lotus, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex), written by Jeffrey Addiss & Will Matthews, and animated by Sola Entertainment. Peter Jackson and Philippa Boyens are producers.
