It seems like studios are still trying to push this practice on viewers. The fall guy is a recent example. I HATED that movie with passion. It feels like the script is the last thing they look into. Also, i'm tired of seeing the same faces everywhere. A-list actors were in cinema first, and when tv series gained momentum, they jumped on the bandwagon. While I have no problem seeing tv actors transition onto the big screen, i don't want to see established actors on my tv show. Big little lies with Meryl Streep was terrible, i'm already exhausted by the new season of only murders in the building, and it hasn't even started yet. When the budget is going to big names, the script is lacking. And i'm not drawn to the screen by actors, i want to see stories. That's why i'm here. Give me that. If i wanted to see a famous face, i'd go to google images.
With movies, it seems like they reuse five faces every two years and then toss them aside. I'm not going to see the movie for Timothy Chalamet, Ryan Gosling, or Austin Batler. Shift your focus to the writers room and hire new talent to play it.
