Alexander Zverev's assault case is over after a settlement between him and his ex-girlfriend.

- Zverev was accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend (who would become the mother of his child) in May 2020 after a heated argument
- Lüders (the judge) said that the settlement had been instigated by the ex-girlfriend's lawyers on Monday evening after the second day of the trial, during which she had started giving her testimony behind closed doors
- The case started on the 31st May with Zverev's team heavily leaning on the witnesses credibility, pointing out she had lied to the press about how they had met and had lied about her job and income several times
- Patea's lawyers claim that they requested the dismissal because the trial was having an affect on the former couple's daughter. "The daughter was really suffering. So now they can both look to the future and get on with their lives. We ended this deal with [the feeling] that people should stop throwing things at each other."
- Zverev will have to pay €200,000 in court costs (€150,000 to the legal system and €50,000 to charitable organisations) but not as an admission of guilt as the penalty order would have been. Zverev retains the legal presumption of innocence.
- Reporter Jonathan Crane says the high cost is likely based on his income and though the €50,000 to charity is unusual it is one of "options listed in the German Code of Criminal Procedure" that the judge decides where the money goes
- Zverev will play the SF of the French Open against Casper Ruud later today.

The ex girlfriend was sent home for illness on Monday, sounds like she was having a really tough time of it. Hope she has a good support system.
