Not really surprising… Sergio Perez extends his contract with Red Bull Racing
https://instagram.com/p/C7zMP06I4mj The driver will continue until at least 2026. Not surprising, even though his streaks sort of ebb and flow, it means it’s a better solidifier to ensure the team can continue to prioritize Max Verstappen. And he’s incredibly marketable, who’s trying to lose a dollhair in this economy anyway? Speculation that Carlos Sainz would take the second seat can be set aside … temporarily. There was discussion regarding V-CARB driver Yuki Tsunoda rounding up the lineup, but that seems a bit far removed. Despite his stats against his current teammate, Perez (in driver ability and well, money) are a far more reliable choice. In all fairness Tsunoda expressed needing more of a commitment from Red Bull, so hopefully there will be a better opportunity for him.
And for those who think Ricciardo would be getting that seat, OP would like to know whatever you’re smoking because she needs some.
Source Carlos Sainz’s new move? You wouldn’t understand, Jim - it’s a secret.
Rumors that Sainz has signed with Williams over Audi will be confirmed after the Spanish Grand Prix in about 3 weeks.
More Alpine Personnel Changes - Esteban Ocon is Departing After the 2024 season
https://instagram.com/p/C7wEyBYMYUI Shortly after the Monaco race in which he collided with teammate Pierre Gasly and their team principal warned of consequences, Ocon will be out of Alpine. No words yet on if he’s picked up by a team (maybe Kick/Sauber???) or if this may be the end of his F1 career.
SourceMore controversy across the pond, Arrow McLaren terminates commercial deal with Juncos Hollinger Racing
Following a raucous Detroit Grand Prix, there was an incident one of the many restarts with JHR driver Augustin Canapino and Arrow McLaren driver Theo Pouchaire, resulting in the latter and his teammate Callum Illot to be sent death threats by keyboard warrior fans. Instead of JHR and Canapino slamming the vitriol the other drivers received, he proceeded to release a statement in which he believed the drivers were lying about the messages. It's not the first time there's been issues with Canapino's fanbase sending harassment to Callum Illot.
To give context, Arrow McLaren with a stacked lineup and marketable drivers like Alexnader Rossi and Pato O’Ward get a lot of sponsors who fight for visibility on the car. The deal with JHR is that McLaren would pass on some of those overflow sponsor to JHR - it’s basically free money. After JHR’s and Canapino’s lack of and then unacceptable statements and stoking the fire with fans, Arrow McLaren decided to terminate the partnership.
JHR is pretty much a backmarker team, so with this funding eliminated it’s possible they might not be in the grid in a couple of years if no one scoops them up. No word if JHR will remove Canapino from the driver lineup.
Source A Round of Musical Chairs on Two Wheels
The land of two wheels gets a shoutout as it was a mystery of who would team up with reigning champion Pecco Bagnaia of Ducati. Would it be Jorge Martin, six-time champion Marc Marquez, or Enea Bastiannani? Pecco’s answer was Enea and Enea really wanted that answer to be true. Martin of Pramac also wanted to join the Ducati lineup and this was all but confirmed even by the team. However, this contract was contingent on Marquez signing with Pramac - a team that Marquez vocally didn’t want to move to as they are not a factory team.
Days after some nasty battles on Maranello, Martin signed with Aprilla after realizing the switch-up from Ducati.

This is one of the rare times where a MotoGP recap is actually worth watching (their highlights are consistently awful) and there's some clips of some hair-raising battles. MotoGP's racing is actually quite gorgeous to watch.
Source Oh yeah, there's a new car that's supposed to give us exciting racing (that's what these hoes said last time), but with all this, I'll save it for Sunday.
