idk I see her vision. like, maybe she's just really into stylized portraiture and caricature? I practice realism art, but I get bored of it sometimes. I'm just not confident enough for the push and pull of stylized art.

Like, I would love to be able to make art like this.

Yeah it's giving me like Egon Schiele vibes, which I love.

It's not 100% my thing but I definitely see the vision when it's all finished.

Seeing the Archibald described as “some art prize thing” really got me.

No, it's okay! It's very local but it's such a big thing here that it makes the news and tours the country.

Exactlyyy!! Art like that is just SO cool to me because it's so different from what I do lol. I look at the Jacob Elordi artwork and I see his likeness, which leads me to believe it might be done more purposefully than not.

Time for me to go look up some more Egon Schiele art lol.

He was a student of Klimt's and v gay, I love the he does an equal number of male and female nudes that are all sensual without being super objectified. All the symbolist details and some of the colors you can see Klimt's influence. I have two (prints) of his nudes on my wall and they freak out my less artistically inclined friends lol.

total art nerd moment here but wow, looking through some of Schiele's and Klimt's work is fascinating. Klimt's use of color seems chaotic at first but the kind of chaos that makes your eye dance around the piece. I love the bizarre, youthfulness of Schiele's work!

It's always so interesting to see how other artists view the world and their subjects. Thanks for introducing me to these two!!

They're two of my favorites so I'm very glad you like them too! If you're ever in NYC you can see their works in person at the Neue Galerie and it's definitely a treat :)

Dumb question: I thought Schiele was considered a predator, and straight - has that been disproved/reconsidered in more recent years?

Oops, you are right I must be mixing them up, oh no x_x

I find his work deeply disturbing and offputting. I saw a retrospective of his works at MoMa years ago, and he painted a lot of his female muses with bruises on their bodies. Considering his....*history* I see what typ of well he's drawing from, and it's not my type of water.
