Shōgun creators Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks talk about the long journey from receiving James Clavell's novel in 2018 and finishing the scripts just before lockdown in 2020 to meeting with Clavell's daughter to discuss possible storylines for S2. They also mention imagining an alternate reality where Yabushige doesn't die and then he and Blackthorne go on a buddy road trip. They talk about having some of the small moments that weren't in the book but were created by the actors.
