I can’t stand boring acoustic covers of songs that are fun and poppy originally. It sucks the soul out of it. This version doesn’t even look fun to sing or perform tbh.

That said I would like for Tame Impala to do a cover of “Down on Me” by Jeremih because HEAR ME OUT

Some are boring (Dancing on my Own), but some are great.

Not sure if the original counts as poppy, but I really like London Grammar’s cover of Tilted by Christine and the Queens.

lol was going to comment the same thing. I find it kind of pretentious to take a song like this and make it ~serious.

But some covers are awesome, like Paramore’s cover of passionfruit for example is top tier.
