Is the last part a fakeout? Like insinuating they won’t get together, but then they - obviously - do? Because that’s lame.

I just finished Benedict’s book and while I liked most of it, I can’t believe the author straight up just used Cinderella to get the story going. The hell.

Having read 3 books now, I can say I like the show way better. The relationships make more sense and the characters are more interesting.

book three is the laziest! and also the least romantic (be my mistress!). If they don't fully throw it out for Benedict's season, what are we even doing here

I hope they do erase that because while that may have been a thing at the time, it just doesn’t make sense for him to be ok with JUST having a mistress. Then again, I have no idea what they’re doing to him on the show. First I thought he was supposed to be secretly gay, then bi, now his love story is some widow? I DON’T GET IT.

it's not too late for them to go back to bisexual disaster Benedict!

I've read 3 because people keep telling me 'the next one is better' but after 3 I stopped cos I no longer believe them.

Lmao I totally get it. In one of the past posts someone said the writing is off and she repeats herself so much.. and that’s what gets me out of the storyline.

Idk if I wanna spend money on Polin. The first three books were free so I didn’t feel so bad wasting my time reading them. But, to PAY for that? Idk

I got them from the library so I didn't pay for them, but I think it's just not my genre and how annoying the men come across is too much for me. I like how they make them less irritating in the show.

Yesssss. Also the violent thoughts and disrespect as if that somehow adds to the romance. “He just wanted to throttle her!” “He has every right to ask her to be his mistress!” And so on. Gtfoh.

Exactly. And I think in Anthony's book where Kate says to give her a week before they have sex or something and he says something about 'his rights being denied' I was like 'f that, she asked for a week' (which of course, he didn't give her).

Oh, they are totally getting together. Some people went through the promo frame by frame, and screencapped Pen's wedding dress (and it does like it is!) I'm wondering which twists from the book they will keep because they've definitely tweaked the story for the better ( ... )

Yea I read the polin, benedict and Eloise book. I think benedicts one was my least favourite although he is a cute little shit in the book. But yea it is a typical romance book genre kind of thing. From what I've read it's pretty much the same virgin girl and man whore trope but I can't really expect much from this so meh. Although I like the dialogues for some of the books, The series makes it a bit more entertaining even though its still a typical love stories. But its mindless fun for me.

The series is definitely not revolutionary, but it's a better iteration of what the romance genre can do. I find it's more fun and compelling than the books. (With the books, let's just say that I was fast reading at times.) I think the dialogue is tighter, and you understand the motivations better (or they're more developed.)

When I first heard Netflix was adapting the Bridgerton books, I was pretty disappointed, because I'd much rather preferred they adapt Courtney Milan or Lauren Willig, whose historical romances I'd enjoyed more at the time.
