For the week of: May 30th to June 2nd, 2023
“The Garfield Movie” clawed its way to first place, overtaking last weekend’s champion “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” at the domestic box office.

June 2, 2024 While four movies went wide, a
wide release is qualified as something in 600 theaters, which is uh. Not wide, in my opinion. Explains why we didn't get any of them. We usually get the anime movies, but maybe our theater owner didn't think anyone knew about Haikyu!! Hence, none of them cracked the top 5! Instead ...
- Garfield is finally #1 with...... 14 million,
- The families were out in force, as IF rose to #2 with 10.8m$
- Furiosa is #3 with 10$m after dropping -59%
- IIRC, Kingdom - Planet - Apes (Which is 4th with 8.8m) was supposed to come out this past weekend but moved to avoid competition with Furiosa. Guess it worked for them because they've made over 100$m domestically and Furiosa probably won't
- Despite falling, The Fall Guy is still 5th with 4.2m
Other
Daisy Ridley's Young Woman and The Sea did not report any numbers, but it did release...somewhere. Apparently.
Corrections:Robot Dreams was only released in NYC. It should be wider in June! Please watch it! RR does not need your money! CP does not need your money! Tiny animated studios who adapt graphic novels they love do!
Upcoming:This week shows us the return of the king (theatrically), with Will Smith in Bad Boys Ride or Die (and if you have T-Mobile Tuesdays, check the app on, well, Tuesday to get a 5$ ticket through Atom Tickets) and Ishana Night Shyamalan's The Watchers.
Are you ready for more think pieces about if Will Smith's actions years ago contributed to the downfall of BBRoD despite the Summer Box Office in 2024 has flopped for 4 out of 5 weeks?
🔘 No
🔘 Nooooo!
