“The Apprentice,” a scathing portrait of a young Donald Trump, dominated Cannes Film Festival.
But nearly two weeks after its premiere, the film still doesn’t have a U.S. distributor. Is Hollywood too scared to release it?

May 31, 2024 source Cannes reviews were good (not great)
The movie has international distrubtion
But no one in the US wants to touch it
Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Disney's Searchlight, Universal's Focus, Lionsgate, A24, HBO have all passed on it. Neon is maybe interested.
Why? fear of (legal) retribution by Trump
“There are only a few companies who can release that movie. Any company who has a ‘for sale’ sign or that has the intention of merging [or] buying someone will be hesitant to do it, as there is a chance [Trump’s] regulators will be punitive if he’s elected.”
