Min Hee Jin (ADOR CEO) vs HYBE drama post 8 (bonus: BTS plagiarism accusations resurface)

Every day we get closer to death this shitshow ending. As for today's update, it's good news for Min Hee Jin ("MHJ"; ADOR CEO) and NewJeans! MHJ's application for an injunction was successful, meaning that HYBE will be unable to exercise its voting rights (as the 80% shareholder of ADOR) in an extraordinary shareholders meeting tomorrow, May 31, to oust MHJ as ADOR CEO. If they go forward with the vote anyway, dismissing MHJ would incur a fine of 20B won ($14,536,476 USD).

The decision appears to have hinged on the voting rights restraint agreement (from the shareholder agreement between MHJ and HYBE), which states that "HYBE must exercise voting rights to maintain Min Hee Jin as CEO and internal director of ADOR for five years" and HYBE being unable to prove grounds sufficient for MHJ's dismissal (despite the language of the contract) at this time.

Still, not all is rosy for MHJ. HYBE previously indicated that it also intends to replace ADOR's board of directors. In a statement released today, MHJ's lawyers argued that "unless there are grounds for CEO Min Hee Jin's dismissal, there are no grounds for the dismissal of the two internal directors from CEO Min Hee Jin's side. Therefore, if HYBE dismisses these directors, it clearly indicates disrespect for the court's decision and unjustifiable dismissal."

In other news, old plagiarism scandals involving BTS have been resurrected in light of HYBE's mudslinging and media manipulation.

These include past allegations that BTS plagiarized one of SHINee's concepts (namely, BTS's 2015-16 HYYH: Young Forever hot air balloon concept, campfire photo shoot setting, and accessories and SHINee's 2014 hot air balloon concept, campfire photo shoot setting, and accessories for their Japanese single, "Lucky Star") and allegations that RM (formerly Rap Monster), J-Hope, and Suga plagiarized lyrics across multiple releases. For the latter, RM actually released an apology on December 2, 2015, admitting that he "subconsciously made a mistake" and "focused on simply writing the song without paying attention to finding out the true sources for my lines."

In response to the scandal, HYBE (then Big Hit) used imagery in the group's 2018 concert VCR (above) appearing to show BTS as "victims of false allegations", showing the backs of BTS members in front of a wall with "PREJUDICE", "PLAGIARISM", "DISCRIMINATION", "ㅅㅈㄱ" (Hangeul initials for sajaegi, the illegal manipulation of music charts and sales), and "ㅍㅈㅅㄴㄷ" (Hangeul initials for "Plagiarism Boy Scouts", a play off BTS's Korean name, Bulletproof Boy Scouts").

BTS is currently under investigation by the Ministry of Culture for alleged "sajaegi" chart manipulation.
