I think it's a common feeling for a lot of people, but statements like that or that their family is incomplete without x children feel strange to me. I don't know what it means for the other kids, the spouse, or if the family doesn't have x kids.
My first thougts were about loneliness. Professional athletes are always out of town and with Steph being who he is - his focus is probably on the game. It takes priority.
But i imagine, when she’s pregnant, giving birth and caring for a new born, he’s probably more present physically and emotionally. A bit more doting.
Once all that passes, i can see how someone could feel like there’s “feeling like somebody is missing” might be about Steph and she could not even know it.
No, it's definitely weird--do you want X number of kids because you have extremely specific ideas for Halloween costumes? Do you want to be like the Partridge Family? Make your own basketball team?
I want x number of kids from a different (the opposite?) view. I’m stopping at 2 because we aren’t rich and I think about logistics of family vacations with the average hotel room having 2 queen size beds. The average “affordable” home having 3 rooms. Etc etc, but I am an overthinker like that. Maybe if we had more money it’d be a different thought process.

I've never forgiven my mother for saying when my brother died that "she didn't know she needed to have back up children".
