NewJeans performing their latest single, "How Sweet", in the Coke Studio. Allegedly, HYBE has restricted the "How Sweet" MV in fourteen different countries as part of its ongoing battle with subsidiary, ADOR.
The Min Hee Jin ("MHJ"; ADOR CEO) vs HYBE feud continues to drag on.
Previously, MHJ filed for an injunction to prevent the extraordinary ADOR shareholders meeting (at which she could be ousted and replaced as ADOR's CEO) and first appeared in court on May 17. All five members of NewJeans have since submitted petitions to the court in support of MHJ, as did ten thousand of the group's fans (known as Bunnies). In response, several producers, creative directors, and executives affiliated with HYBE (including Pdogg, Big Hit Music's chief producer, Slow Rabbit, TXT's producer, and Son Sung Deuk, Big Hit Music's performance director) filed petitions in support of the extraordinary shareholders' meeting going forward as scheduled.
The extraordinary ADOR shareholders' meeting is scheduled for May 31, with the court expected to either grant or dismiss MHJ's injunction before then.
In other news, however, more of MHJ's text messages leaked. This time, the batch of texts seemingly lays out ADOR's exit strategy from the HYBE conglomerate... the same exit strategy HYBE was concerned about, and the reason why the audit was initiated in the first place. TV Daily has posted what it calls "accurately reconstructed" Kakaotalk chats between MHJ and ADOR executives dating back to March of this year. In the texts (
translated by Koreaboo), MHJ and the ADOR executives appear to be strategizing to leave ADOR with NewJeans, including discussions about potential investors and sources of financial backing, the cost of breaking the NewJeans' members' contacts with ADOR, and how to best take advantage of the public relations fiasco that will follow.
Additionally, MHJ appears to tell an ADOR employee that the parents of NewJeans need to be the ones to make the complaint regarding ILLIT to HYBE and be the whistleblowers, as she thinks "there are contractual issues if the articles are written as if it were from us." She continued, stating that, "We need to have the parents make the complaints first because ADOR can't attack HYBE."
Lastly,
from the Reddit Megathread, it appears that TV Daily also published texts between MHJ and her shaman ("Jiyoung 0814") dating from March 2021. Allegedly, MHJ discussed wanting her own label, with the shaman responding that MHJ would have her own label in three years. They also discussed other business issues, including contract termination and compensation.
