It feels like catholicism is having a weird cultural resurgence lately. Pls fucking stop, catholicism has never been and will never be cool.

was the worst thing he said that a lot of women are gonna be looking forward to having babies or something?
I think i only heard clips from a radio show i listened to. Or is it worse?

i think he essentially said all the women in the graduating class wasted their time. their degree is useless and their lives won't really be worth anything until they're married and pregnant.

i've seen catholicism/conservative christianity be a topic of conversation in pop culture lately and it's very gross. like random tradwife shit on ig and yt i have to block, toxic masculinity coming from christian influencers, etc.

i wanna be a gay trad husband. i'll stay home, cook and clean, and take care of the cats.

But weird commencement speech. Why talk down to these people??

because he thinks women (and queer people, jews, and likely anyone who isn't a white christian man) are beneath him, and his religion reinforces that.

And his mother evidently is a medical physicist and he has a good relationship with her.

He was also homophobic and antisemitic in his speech, and anti-abortion (and birth control and IVF), so the 'women will never find a greater joy than being a homemaker and having babies' was just one drop in a great bigoted mix

i'm all for women who want to be a homemaker, but this weird ideology (mostly pushed by men) that it's the end goal for a woman is is weird.

Yeah, I don't mind women wanting or choosing to be stay-at-home moms, if that's what they wish for themselves. But within the context of this being a college graduation speech (so most of the women there just spent 4 years earning their degree) and also coming from this particular man, it was certainly something.

Hypocritical is as does because there's been a LOT of tea dropped about his closeted ass. H needs to be ashamed of wasting his wife's time but that sort is always entitled as hell.

is there any tea of him being gay, or was that another lifetime and was (presumably) guilt shamed into strict catholic stuff?

The former. Lots of stories about being on the DL in college; very much a "if you suck me off and I fuck you (instead of getting fucked) I'm not really bi/gay" type of dude. If you're bi and your partner is okay with it that's one thing but prsnting yourself as straight to waste a woman's time for your own reputation is really fucking shitty.
